Do I need any vaccinations for a trip to Galapagos?
The following is a general guideline for vaccinations when traveling to Ecuador and the Galápagos Islands for a short stay. If you plan to explore more remote areas of Ecuador or other parts of South America, we recommend seeking more specific medical advice.
Starting August 27, 2025, Ecuador’s Ministry of Public Health has officially announced the elimination of the mandatory requirement to present the International Certificate of Vaccination against Yellow Fever for travelers arriving from Colombia, Peru, Bolivia, and Brazil. Effective immediately, the vaccine remains a recommended preventive measure, but it is no longer required for entry into Ecuador.
Other recommended vaccinations, depending on the region you travel to, are: Hepatitis A, Typhoid Fever, Tetanus (if not up to date) and other routine vaccines that you may not have had.
